Five Things that Definitely Happened on Lost

The following article may contain MAJOR SPOILERS for all episodes of Lost up to and including the most recently broadcast episode: "Cabin Fever"
I'm beginning to think the majority of critics who claim nothing ever happens on Lost were never actually fans of the show to begin with. Normally I don't write about Lost because it's more mystery than character piece, despite some very strong characterizations, but it's important to put words to the defense of this fantastic series. And because nobody else is interested I guess I'll have to do it. So, beginning now, a (spoiler-filled) list of Five Things that Definitely Happened on Lost last week:

1) The men of the Dharma Initiative have definitely been involved in John Locke's past for years -- this is a new revelation, one that severely tests our current notions of Time and Space on the island.

2) Chopper Pilot Frank reveals a tidbit to Michael that I've long suspected: Mr. Whitmore definitely did not fabricate the remains of flight 815 found on the bottom of the ocean.

3) Ben definitely passes the torch to Locke in terms of doing the island's bidding, and we see how much he pities Locke for this; whereas Ben is able to manipulate things to his advantage, Locke is willingly being pulled around by forces he doesn't understand.

4) Frank definitely chooses a side in the upcoming conflict when he tosses the locater dealie out the window of the helicopter.

5) The Wandering Trio definitely find Jacob's cabin, wherein we learn that not only is Jack & Claire's dad definitely not dead, but that he speaks for "Jacob" and that the island can be (and must be) moved.

6) Honorable Mention: Jorge Garcia's Hurley is definitely getting fatter. This is probably not plot-related.

Lost airs Thursday nights in the US on ABC.
